Kovachevski: All government measures aimed at improving citizens' living standard

Skopje, 1 May 2023 (MIA) — In a video message expressing respect to workers and offering his best wishes on International Workers' Day, Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski praised workers' labor "even amid the greatest economic and energy crisis in decades."

PM Kovachevski said the government, through social dialogue, had strengthened its partnership with unions, which produced positive outcomes. As examples he listed the minimum wage rising to "over Mden 20,000, which is a 100 percent increase compared to 2016"; the current "average salary over 500 euros"; and "the increased salaries in the education, health care and security sectors."

He also said the government had laid a sound foundation so the minimum and average wages would continue to grow.

Also, the Corridors 8 and 10d construction project, he said, would create 8,000 new jobs and bring new investments of 1.3 billion euros and nominal GDP growth of 2% percent per year over the next 5 years.

Kovachevski pointed out that all governmental measures and systemic solutions were aimed at a better standard of living for the citizens. "Our dedicated work will continue," he said in his May Day video message to all workers in the country. mr/
