Kiev, 12 July 2023 (dpa/MIA) - The Ukrainian air force said on Wednesday morning it was able to repel Russian air attacks over Kiev during the night, shooting down 11 of 15 drones which had been launched from Russia.

The air force announced on Telegram that the Russian military attacked Ukraine from the north-east with Iranian-made Shahed drones. Initially there was no information about damage or casualties.

Ukraine has been fending off a full-scale Russian invasion for more than 16 months with Western help, including advanced air defence systems.

For months, Moscow has been using Iranian-made Shahed drones to bombard the neighbouring country.
