Kichevo patient tests negative for monkeypox
Skopje, 12 August 2022 (MIA) - Results of the test of a Kichevo man came back as negative for monkeypox, Zlate Mehmedovikj, spokesman of the Commission for Infectious Diseases, told MIA.
"The patient is negative, the isolation will end when the Bitola Public Health Center decides, because it is in charge of the health monitoring," he stated, adding the man will be treated for the primary illness.
The Kichevo patient was the first suspected case of monkeypox in the country. Against recommendations by the health authorities, he refused to get tested for a couple of days.
In a press release, the Health Ministry confirmed that the monkeypox test of the Kichevo patient came back negative.
"The Public Health Institute has at a disposal sufficient number of tests detecting the monkeypox disease. In cooperation with the Commission for Infectious Diseases and the World Health Organization, the monkeypox epidemiological situation is closely monitored globally," said the press release.
