Skopje, 15 May 2023 (MIA) – President Stevo Pendarovski and the Pardoning Commission rejected the pardon request of the former head of the Special Public Prosecutor’s Office, Katica Janeva, said the President’s Office in a press release Monday.
“The President rejected the request for a pardon by former Special Prosecutor Katica Janeva. The Pardoning Commission, which is an advisory working body in the President’s Office, responded negatively to the request as well,” said the President’s Office.
The press release comes after some media outlets, citing sources from the Commission, reported on Monday that Janeva is on the list of convicts awaiting Pendarovski’s pardon.
The Pardoning Commission is an advisory body which submits a list with proposed pardons to the President.
Former Special Prosecutor Katica Janeva was charged with abuse of power and official position in the affair dubbed “Racket”, and is serving a seven-year prison sentence.
