Katica Janeva taken to Idrizovo penitentiary to serve ‘Racket’ case sentence
Skopje, 23 July 2021 (MIA) – Former special prosecutor Katica Janeva was taken on Friday afternoon to Skopje’s Idrizovo penitentiary, where she is to serve the seven-year sentence from the ‘Racket’ case trial, prison warden Jovica Stojanovikj told MIA.
Her transfer comes after the Skopje-based Appellate Court said Wednesday it has rejected the appeals of “Racket” defendants Bojan Jovanovski and Katica Janeva and affirmed the first-instance ruling.
In June 2020, the Criminal Court in Skopje sentenced Jovanovski aka Boki 13 to nine years in prison for taking bribes and money laundering, and former special prosecutor Katica Janeva to seven years in prison for abuse of office.
During the first hearing in the case in December 2019, third defendant Zoran Milevski-Kicheec pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to three years in jail. He’s been serving his sentence in the Struga prison since October 2020.
