Joint history commission holds 38th meeting in Skopje

Skopje, 7 November 2025 (MIA) - The Joint Multidisciplinary Commission of Experts in Historical and Educational Issues held its 38th meeting on Thursday and Friday in Skopje, in accordance with the annual work schedule. 

"During the meeting, the Macedonian side presented the new History and Society textbooks for the 5th and the 6th grades. Given the new reality, the meeting focused on the future approach and methodology regarding discussions about textbooks. The discussion on this topic will continue at the next meeting," the Macedonian team of the Commission said in a press release.

Participants in the meeting signed the minutes from the 31st meeting and continued the coordination of the minutes from the 32nd meeting. 

"We would like to highlight that the Macedonian team, through its proactive approach to building trust, continues to move towards finding sustainable solutions, based on mutual respect for the sovereign right of the other to have a different perception of the past," the press release adds.

The Commission's next meeting is scheduled to take place in early December in Sofia.
