Skopje, 21 March 2024 (MIA) — French poet Jean-Pierre Siméon is this year's winner of Struga Poetry Evenings' Golden Wreath award and German poet Katrin Pitz is the winner of the 2024 Bridges of Struga prize, festival organizers said Thursday.

Siméon will receive the festival's main prize for his complete oeuvre.

Pitz will be given the UNESCO-sponsored Bridges of Struga award for her debut collection "Auch solche tage waren immer schon da: Gedichte."

The announcement of the SPE winners was followed by a poetry reading held to mark World Poetry Day. It featured performances by Macedonian PEN Center members and other Macedonian poets. mr/
