Japanese opera singer Kazuhiro Kotetsu to sing Macedonian songs at Philharmonic

Skopje, 28 June 2025 (MIA) — Japanese opera singer Kazuhiro Kotetsu, renowned for his dedication to Macedonian music, and Macedonian soprano Elena Vasova will give a concert titled "A Japanese Heart Beats in Macedonian Rhythm" at the Philharmonic.

 

According to organizers, they will be joined on stage by the Japanese female choir Tomoni Utao accompanied by pianist Akiko Kanazawa and Macedonian choir Pro Ars conducted by Sasho Tatarchevski. 

 

Special guests at the concert are pianist Ivan Trajkovski and Japanese soprano Chihiro Suganuma.

 

Kotetsu will perform Macedonian folk songs including „Болен ми лежи Миле Поп Јорданов“ ("Mile Pop Jordanov has fallen ill"). „Македонско девојче“, ("Macedonian girl"), „Ако умрам ил’ загинам“ ("If I die or I am killed") and others, organizers said.

 

The concert program also includes well-known Japanese songs and was conceived to highlight the link between Macedonian and Japanese culture. mr/
