Sofia, 11 January 2022 (MIA) – Yesterday’s session of the Consultative Council on National Security summoned by President Rumen Radev was a timely and useful discussion, says Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov and adds he will visit North Macedonia in the course of January, MIA reports from Sofia. PM Petkov said the Council session demonstrated that all stakeholders share the same goal – overcoming the standstill in the Bulgaria-North Macedonia relations and giving a new impetus to goodneighborliness. Petkov, who is currently self-isolating due to a contact with a COVID-19 case, says in a video-message that the Bulgarian government will work on the implementation of the programme in various fields, with “the rights of Bulgarians in North Macedonia in the focus of his efforts.” “I will visit the Republic of North Macedonia in the course of this month. First, because it is our turn, and second, because we can do a lot more through constructive dialogue compared to what was the case over the past few years,” says Petkov and ends his address with the words “we can do more together”. The Bulgarian Government’s press service said earlier today that PM Petkov and his Office chief Lena Borislavova would self-isolate in the coming days due to a contact with a COVID-19 case, prompting the postponement of his January 18 visit to North Macedonia.
