Skopje, 17 February 2026 (MIA) — Ivo Pecov's exhibition "Graphic Notes" of 20 prints he created over the past five years will open Tuesday evening at the Macedonian Cultural and Information Center in Sofia.
According to organizers, the art show consists of "works that do not provide quick answers, but instead invite contemplation, silence and inner dialogue."
"Pecov does not offer direct narratives; instead, his compositions are layered, open and associative, leaving room for personal interpretation," organizers said.
The words within the works serve as "an echo of the visual… deepening communication with the viewer and highlighting the poetic dimension of the work, where words and lines complement each other,” they said.
The pieces have already been on display as part of numerous group exhibitions and international competitions "where they were highly praised by professionals and recognized by admirers of classical printmaking for their author's authenticity and conceptual depth," organizers said.
All prints were produced using the drypoint technique, which involves cutting directly into the metal etching plate. After the ink is added, the work is printed manually "without intermediary chemical processes, preserving the authentic energy of the artist’s hand," they said.
"An essential part of the artist’s poetics," according to organizers, is that "each work is rare, unique and carries traces of the immediate creative act."
Ivo Pecov (b. 1980, Kochani) has a master's degree in graphics and a doctoral degree in mural painting from the National Academy of Arts in Sofia. He has had 20 solo art shows and many group exhibitions across Europe, won several awards and taken part in numerous art colonies. mr/
