Tel Aviv, 8 January 2024 (dpa/MIA) — The Israeli army has again fired on several Hezbollah targets in neighbouring Lebanon, it said on Monday.
Air force fighter jets attacked a military facility near Marwahin in southern Lebanon and a rocket launcher elsewhere on the border, the armed forces announced on Monday morning.
An Israeli drone and a helicopter also attacked positions from which Israel had been fired upon, they added.
Hezbollah, which is allied with the Palestinian Islamist terrorist organization Hamas and Iran, and Israeli forces have repeatedly exchanged fire in recent days.
In the ongoing Gaza war as a result of the Hamas attacks on October 7 last year, chief diplomats such as US Secretary of State Antony Blinken fear an expansion to other parts of the region.
Blinken, like German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, is currently travelling in the Middle East and visiting several states to discuss the situation in the conflict.
Baerbock plans to visit Palestinians in the West Bank on Monday and meet Foreign Minister Riyadh al-Maliki in Ramallah. On Wednesday, the Green politician plans to travel on to Lebanon.
