Israel hands over 15 more bodies of Palestinians

Tel Aviv, 10 November 2025 (dpa/MIA) - Israel has handed over the bodies of 15 more Palestinians to the Gaza Strip as part of a ceasefire deal with Hamas.

The health authority in Gaza controlled by the Palestinian Islamist movement announced on Monday that the remains had been handed over with the help of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

This brings the total number of Palestinian bodies handed over since the ceasefire began a month ago to 315. However, less than a third of these have been identified so far.

Israel and Hamas agreed on the exchange as part of the ceasefire agreement struck in October. According to the agreement, for every Israeli hostage whose remains are released, Israel must hand over the remains of 15 deceased Gaza residents.

The exact circumstances of the Palestinians' deaths are not known. It is believed that Israel kept their bodies in a military camp.

Hamas has already released all 20 surviving hostages who were kidnapped during the October 7, 2023, attacks on Israel. They were released in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners.

However, the handover of the dead hostages has proceeded more slowly than agreed.

According to Israel, the bodies of four hostages are still in the Gaza Strip.
