Bitola, 4 November 2022 (MIA) - We have started a process of the accession of the Republic of North Macedonia to the EU, where, in my opinion, is the place of your country, Bulgarian Vice President Iliana Iotova said late Friday in Bitola. In a brief statement to reporters, Iotova said that the reason for her visit to the Prespa-Pelagonia region is tomorrow's religious holiday All Souls' Day, and in regard to recently adopted law on citizens' associations and foundations in North Macedonia, she said, “Your Parliament is the Parliament of a sovereign state which has the right to approve all kinds of laws and of course has responsibility for their approval.” “What we are interested in is to see how that law will have effect in the coming period. We have started a process for the accession of the Republic of North Macedonia to the EU, where, in my opinion, is the place of your country. I think that many of our problems, which we still have, will have a solution only when one day we all together will be part of the big European family. It was difficult to get to the first intergovernmental conference, but from here on, the agreement between the two countries of 2017 and the agreement on good neighborliness are not only agreements between the two countries but agreements of European legislation and apart from Bulgaria, the European institutions that are members of the union will monitor their fulfillment, and thus also to our common goals,” Iotova noted. Following Friday’s visit to Prespa, as she announced, Iotova will visit the Bulgarian military cemetery in Bitola's Capari village on Saturday. “My visit is related to tomorrow’s great religious holiday of All Souls' Day. Since 1924 in Bulgaria, it has been a day to pay respect to all fallen Bulgarian soldiers in various wars and with the goal no wars to occur in the future. Tomorrow I will visit the Bulgarian military cemetery in the village of Capari,” Iotova said.
