Infectious diseases commission to discuss COVID-19 situation tomorrow

Skopje, 4 August 2022 (MIA) - The Commission for Infectious Diseases will hold a meeting on Friday over the current COVID-19 situation in the country.
According to Thursday’s data of the Public Health Institute, of the 1,890 SARS-CoV-2 tests done in North Macedonia’s laboratories over the past 24 hours, 844 came back positive for the airborne virus. Of them, 188 were confirmed reinfections. Six deaths have been added to the country’s official COVID-19 death toll, which is 9,387 at the moment, and 815 people recovered from their acute infection.
In addition, there are now 4,139 active SARS-CoV-2 cases nationwide, most of which - 1,749 in Skopje, while Pehchevo and Dojran have one active case each.
Some of the countries in the region have reimposed certain COVID-19 restrictions. After a surge in cases Montenegro reinstated the mask mandate with health authorities urging citizens to get vaccinated against the virus.
Health authorities in Greece say the country may reintroduce COVID-19 rules in the fall if necessary, as it aims at transitioning out of the pandemic and into an endemic phase of the virus.
