Bitola, 26 July 2024 (MIA) - The police searched the Academy for Judges and Prosecutors due to indications of abuse and creation of a center of power in the prosecution and courts, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said on Friday.
"There are indications over the creation of a center of power in the prosecution and the courts, a partisan structure rigging calls and elections. The Ministry of Interior will confirm if such indications exist. If confirmed, this is another evidence that the judiciary is obstructed and captured by parties, and I am not surprised by the two-percent trust in the sector," PM Mickoski told reporters in Bitola.
According to him, these individuals are the exceptions, whereas the honest prosecutors and judges are pushed in the background.
"These few are in the front and that is why the situation is as it is and the public trust is at two percent. We will not stop here. Citizens must get justice, because this has been part of our election campaigns since 2019," said Mickoski.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office said earlier today that as part of a case against a Supreme Court judge, a forensic analysis of his phone resulted in findings suggesting a crime might have been committed for which the premises of the Academy for Judges and Public Prosecutors were searched yesterday.
