Increased traffic registered at two border crossings

Skopje, 1 September 2024 (MIA) – The Tabanovce and Bogorodica border crossings register increasing traffic for entering and exiting the county, says the Auto-moto Association of Macedonia. 
No delays on the Macedonian side of the other borders are reported for entering and exiting the country. 

A ban for heavy cargo vehicles over 15 tons on the weekends and on extremely hot days is in force through Aug. 31, as well as a ban for heavy cargo vehicles over 7.5 tons on the weekends on the A2 highway, section Skopje-Ohrid-Skopje, introduced over the summer so as to avoid traffic congestion. 

 


As of July 7, there are lane closures along the Skopje – Kumanovo highway section before Miladinovci. 

 


As of June 24, there are lane closures along the R1109 regional road near Bogdanci for road reconstruction.

 


As of June 7, there are lane shifts along the R1306 between Prilep, Krushevo and Sladuevo for repairs.

 


As of March 27, there are lane closures along the R1101 regional road between Prilep and Bitola for Shemnica River bridge repairs. 

 


As of March 26, there are lane shifts along the A1/A2 highway between Madzhari overpass to Belvi junction for construction.

 


As of Dec. 11, there are lane shifts and intermittent lane closures along A3 section between Prilep and Bitola for highway surveying. Motorists are advised to drive cautiously, observe all posted speed limit and construction signs, and carefully heed flaggers (when present to assist surveyers). The closures will remain in effect for six months or until construction works are done.

 


As of Dec. 5, there will be lane shifts and intermittent lane closures along the A2 section between Tetovo and Gostivar for highway surveying. Motorists are advised to drive cautiously, observe all posted speed limit and construction signs, and carefully heed flaggers (when present to assist surveyers). The closures will remain in effect for six months or until construction works are done.

 


As of Nov. 8, construction on the A4 between Blace border crossing and Stenkovec junction has closed the local road to the village of Blace. A detour route is available.

 


Construction work is ongoing on the A4 section 2 km before the Blace border crossing. Signs are in place.

 


As of Nov. 7, there are road repairs and improvements on the A1 between Petrovec and Katlanovo. Signs are in place.

 


As of Oct. 24, there is construction on the R1301 between Ohrid and Sv. Naum. Signs are in place.

 


As of Oct. 23, the A2 between Skopje and Tetovo has lane closures around the Zhelino toll plaza for reconstruction. Signs are in place.

 


As of Sept. 11, the Skopje — Blace tunnel on the A4 is reduced to one lane to allow for tunnel repairs.

 


Traffic is diverted from the A3 section between Bukovo and Ohrid for installing traffic signal equipment. Works were expected to end on Feb. 29, 2024.

 


There is construction work on the R1303 between Makedonski Brod and Prilep, near the Barbaros pass. Motorists are advised that there will be a 30 km/hour work zone speed limit.

 


There is construction work on the A3 between Podmolje and Ohrid. A detour is available via R1208 regional road.

 


There is construction work on the A1 between Petrovec and Katlanovo. Signs are in place.

 


On the A1 between Veles and Negotino, traffic is diverted onto E-75 until construction ends on the Gradsko junction. Motorists are advised that there will be a 80 km/hour work zone speed limit.

 


Traffic is diverted from the A1 highway section between Gradsko and Prilep (from the Raec River bridge toward Pletvar) for repairs. Signs are in place.

 


Traffic is diverted from stretches of the A2 between Kichevo and Ohrid for construction. Signs are in place.

 


Skopje's Belasica Bridge, on Belasica Street, is partly open to light traffic because of damage from the May 2023 fire.

 


Landslides are possible along the routes of Katlanovo – Veles, Mavrovo – Debar – Struga, Vinica – Berovo and Kochani – Delchevo.

 


Motorists are advised to drive carefully, adjust their speed to weather conditions and follow traffic rules, signs and signals.
