Skopje, 31 August 2025 (MIA) — To mark the 120th death anniversary of Macedonian revolutionary Aleksandar Turundzhev, opera singer Igor Durlovski has released the video for his song "Crno mu bilo pishano na Aleksandar Turundzhe" ("Aleksandar Turundzhe Was Born Doomed").

"My performance is a grateful tribute to the feat that has remained an eternal symbol for Bitola and Macedonia. This song is to remind us that heroes live on in our musical memory," Durlovski wrote on Facebook.

The opera singer sings the song accompanied by Nikolche Micevski on piano.

Micevski also arranged the song, whcih was produced XL Studio Momiroski. The video was directed by Nikolaj Grncharov.

In honor of Turundzhev, the Municipality of Bitola organized a procession from Gjorgji Sugarev Elementary where he had been imprisoned, through Magnolia Square along the Dragor River to At Pazar where a new memorial was raised to the revolutionary.

Durlovski's song premiered ahead of the unveiling of the monument. mr/
