Skopje, 13 September 2021 (MIA) – This year’s edition of Skopje Cinema City, a festival of music documentaries, kicks off on September 18 at the Cinematheque in Skopje. “When We Are Born”, a film with Icelandic musician and composer Ólafur Arnalds, directed by Vincent Moon, will open the seventh edition of the music documentary festival. “Every edition of Skopje Cinema City is opened by a film dedicated to an artist, who is the recipient of the lifetim achievement award for outstanding contribution to music and cinema. This year’s recipient is Ólafur Arnalds. The award has been sent to him in Iceland,” festival’s organizers announce. “When We Are Born” explores the themes of rituals, relationships and inner landscape through music from Ólafur Arnalds' latest album, "Some Kind of Peace." Skopje Cinema City will also screen Stanley Nelson's documentary about the legendary jazz musician Miles Davis “Birth of the Cool” to mark the 30th anniversary of his death. The festival is organized by Nomad-Art Skopje Association in cooperation with the Cinematheque of North Macedonia, the Goethe Institute and the Milan Mladenovic Foundation. It will be organized in two stages - on Sept. 18-19 and on Sept. 20-21.
