IAEA: Iranian nuclear site south of Tehran not hit in Israeli attacks

Vienna, 13 June 2025 (dpa/MIA) - A uranium enrichment plant about 150 kilometres south of the Iranian capital Tehran has not been affected by the wide-scale Israeli airstrikes overnight, according to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Friday, as more details emerged about the targeted sites.

"As of now, the Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant has not been impacted,” IAEA boss Rafael Grossi said after contacting the Iranian authorities, according to the IAEA's official X feed.

Citing information from Iran, the IAEA also gave the all-clear for two other facilities: the Bushehr nuclear power plant and a nuclear centre in Isfahan were not affected.

The Natanz enrichment plant north of the city of Isfahan, was targeted, the IAEA confirmed earlier.

Iranian nuclear authorities said that the strike on the Natanz site had not resulted in any radioactive contamination or chemical leakage.

The IAEA had also reported that the radiation levels there were not elevated.

Israel's military action will have no influence on the will of Iran's nuclear industry, the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization said.

Scientists and experts would now pursue the country's goals of promoting nuclear technology "with double the motivation ... contrary to the wishes of the enemy," the organization said.
