Heraclea Lyncestis mosaics being conserved with US grant
Bitola, 9 August 2021 (MIA) – A total of $100,000 in grant will be used to conserve and preserve the mosaics and architecture of the Heraclea Lyncestis archeological site.
According to the project paperwork, the conservation will include mosaics and architecture in the Small and Great Basilicas, the Episcopacy Residence, the circular tower, the city fountain etc.
“The conservational interventions that are done largely and integrally for the first time thanks to this grant will not only enable the preservation of these extremely valuable cultural goods that Heraclea is known for, but they will also shed a new light and meaning to the site itself,” says the Bitola Institute and Museum Bitola.
The project, backed by the US Embassy to North Macedonia, is currently being implemented. dk/ba/
