Skopje, 21 May 2023 (MIA) - Health Minister Fatmir Mexhiti is taking part on Sunday and Monday in the 76th World Health Assembly (WHA) in Geneva, held under the theme “WHO at 75: Saving lives, driving health for all”.
This year's WHA includes a series of strategic roundtables during which WHA delegates, partner agencies, representatives of civil society and WHO experts will discuss current and future priorities for public health issues of global importance, the Ministry of Health said in a press release.
"Considering the situation with the health system in our country, as well as the developments at a global level, which have brought turbulence even in the most developed health systems, the need for continuous work, development and improvement of the health system as a whole is evident. Active participation in events such as the World Health Assembly is a step to open the door as well as an incentive for commitment to the exchange and implementation of positive practices, and the right way to improve the Macedonian health system, with the aim of providing high-quality health services to the citizens of North Macedonia," said Mexhiti.
The country has been an active and permanent member of the World Health Organization for more than 20 years. During this time, a number of projects and initiatives have been implemented towards support and education of citizens for prevention and health care, adds the press release.
