Skopje, 26 March 2025 (MIA) - Health Minister Arben Taravari said Wednesday he expects that 40-50 percent of patients treated abroad following the nightclub fire in Kochani will need long-term rehabilitation. He added there are countries who are ready to help with the rehabilitation of more serious cases.
“The process of rehabilitation for patients receiving treatment after the tragic event in Kochani will be long and difficult, but this is the situation. We must face that, and we must respond well in this stage as well. The first ten have days passed and at least so far the results are good. There are no deaths, even though we have four patients who are critical. Now we are in the second stage of complications and rehabilitation,” Taravari told TV Sitel in an interview.
The Minister said the rehabilitation process has already begun for some patients and could last from a few weeks to several months.
“Unfortunately, generally these are people aged from 15 to 25. It's not only their physical well-being that matters to them, but also their physical appearance, and here we are talking about burns that can leave scars and lead to them being stigmatized in society. As a country, we will do the utmost to ensure they are rehabilitated and treated, so they can continue their lives,” Taravari said.
