Skopje, 28 June 2022 (MIA) - First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Political System and Inter-Community Relations Artan Grubi convened on Tuesday the second meeting of the Committee for construction of Corridors 8 and 10 D.
Participants in the meeting decided to propose the government to set up teams for expropriation, negotiations and implementation of the largest infrastructure project in the country, which will be carried out by the Bechtel-Enca consortium.
Corridor 8 provides for construction of the highway according to modern standards of road infrastructure in three directions: Tetovo - Gostivar, Gostivar - Kichevo, Kafasan - Struga-Trebenishte.
Corridor 10 D includes the construction of the Bitola - Prilep highway.
The construction of the Skopje-Blace highway, which was approved by the Parliament and the EBRD Board of Directors, will significantly facilitate the movement of citizens from the Blace border crossing with Kosovo to the Kafasan border crossing with Albania, Grubi’s office said in a press release.
"The implementation of these large road infrastructure projects will significantly affect the strengthening of trade relations between the Balkan countries, faster and better movement of citizens," reads the press release.
The law on the construction of Corridor 8 was approved by the Parliament on July 15 last year at the proposal of the members of the parliamentary majority, and was confirmed by the Constitutional Court on December 9. dk/nn/
