Greece to offer updated boosters against BA.4, BA.5 to their citizens
Skopje, 27 September 2022 (MIA) — The new bivalent vaccines adapted against the Omicron BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants of SARS-CoV-2 have arrived in Greece. They will be available as of Monday as boosters to people who have already received two or three vaccine doses, MIA’s Athens correspondent reports. According to the Greek Health Ministry, senior adults over 60 years of age and persons aged 12 to 59 with health issues will have priority for the updated boosters. The mRNA vaccines based on the original virus strain and the two Omicron strains will be used as either a third or a fourth vaccine dose. They are recommended to be given three months after vaccination or after surviving a Covid-19 infection. Previously unvaccinated people, as their first and second doses, will be given the vaccines against the original strain, MIA’s correspondent notes. mr/
