Greece rejects Putin's illegal annexation of Ukrainian land
Athens, 30 September 2022 (MIA) – Russia’s President Vladimir Putin’s decision to annex four regions of Ukraine is a flagrant violation of international law and Greece rejects it, according to MIA’s Athens correspondent citing Greece's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“Greece condemns the decision of the Russian Federation to annex Ukrainian territories (Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporizhzhya, and Kherson) occupied by the Russian military forces. This decision is illegal, as it is a flagrant violation of international law, and it is invalid. Greece does not recognize it," the Greek MFA said in a statement following Putin’s annexation speech on Friday.
"Greece continues to support, as a basic principle, the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as of all states," the statement adds, stressing that Greece will continue its efforts toward "delivering justice and protecting the rights of the Greek community in Ukraine." mr/
