Gov’t sets number of school days in line with decision to postpone second semester
Skopje, 18 January 2022 (MIA) – The Government at a session on Tuesday adopted a decision on the number of school days in the 2021/2022 school year in primary schools amid extraordinary circumstances. Under the decision, the number of school days in the 2021/2022 school year in primary schools is set at 172 school days, i.e. the winter break will last until February 1, 2022, and the school year will end on June 10, 2022, the Government said in a press release. “A similar decision was also adopted for high schools, where the number of school days in the 2021/2022 school year amid extraordinary circumstance is set at 172 school days, i.e. 158 school days for students in the final year of high school education, and the winter break will last until February 1, 2022, while the school year will end on June 10, 2022,” reads the press release. The decision to postpone the second semester in primary schools and high schools for 10 days, i.e. have the school year resume on February 1, 2022, was adopted at a session of the Government late Monday following a recommendation by the main crisis coordination headquarters (HQ) tasked with handling the coronavirus pandemic, due to surge in COVID-19 cases across the country.
