Gov’t: Indoor cultural events can go to 50 percent capacity, no vaccination certificates at youth sports competitions
Skopje, 13 October 2021 (MIA) –  North Macedonia’s Government at a session on Wednesday adopted a conclusion on amending the Protocol for organizing indoor events in theaters, cinemas, the philharmonic and other facilities, increasing their capacity to 50 percent instead of the current 30 percent of capacity. In addition, a requirement is imposed that visitors are fully vaccinated – with two doses of a vaccine against COVID-19. The organizers of the events are also to implement and control all other recommendations and precautions against the spread of the virus. The Government at Wednesday’s session also approved the recommendation of the Commission for Infectious Diseases to accept a request by the Youth and Sports Agency allowing organization and participation in all sports competitions in the categories of youth and cadets without a vaccination certificate.  However, a recommendation for vaccination remains for all those for whom vaccination has been approved, including children and adolescents 12 years of age and older. Also, on Wednesday the Government passed amendments to the Protocol on the education process, concluding that children with special needs and disabilities can be exempt from the requirement to wear a mask at school after presenting a medical certificate of their condition. The Government on Wednesday accepted the information of the Ministry of Health that a necessary amount of disinfectants will be provided for the upcoming local elections in response to a request by the State Election Commission (SEC).
