Government has paid EUR 240 million for subsidized price at regulated electricity market: Deputy PM
Skopje, 22 September 2022 (MIA) – The Government has paid EUR 240 million for the subsidized electricity price at the regulated market until now. All national capacities are operational for the purpose of larger electricity production and the Government is committed to ensuring sufficient energy resources for the coming winter, says Deputy PM for Economic Affairs Fatmir Bytyqi. The Government in making arrangements with neighboring countries for guaranteed import of electricity and energy resources but only if the domestic sources are exhausted. Deputy PM Bytyqi told Telma TV the extension of the state of crisis in the energy sector is sought in order to ensure sufficient flexibility and mechanisms for the crisis management. He says the Government is committed to securing sufficient energy resources for the coming winter, noting that the state is subsidizing the electricity price on the regulated market by 80 percent. “653,000 households and 70,000 private entities on the regulated market are getting subsidized price of electricity that is 100-percent produced in the country. The subsidies have cost the state EUR 240 million thus far,” says Bytyqi.
