Skopje, 25 April 2023 (MIA) - The Government endorsed Tuesday the draft-amendments to the Law on Audiovisual Media Services, for the purpose of its alignment with the European Union regulations.

Minister of Information Society and Administration Azir Aliu said yesterday the amendments should be passed by May 31, in order to avoid losing access to funds from the Creative Europe programme.

Amendments refer to the funding of the public broadcasting service Macedonian Radio Television (MRT) and analyses are currently in the pipeline to reduce the funds allocated to the institution, which currently amount to one percent of the national Budget.

Aliu also said the amendments would also offer a solution for regulation of multimedia content (text, audio, video), with web-portals not part of these amendments.
