Skopje, 20 September 2024 (MIA) - At an extraordinary session on Friday, the Government passed the decision of the Ministry of Economy and Labor to limit the gross profit margin to ten percent for about 100 basic food products - bread, baked and dairy products, meat and meat processing, some conserved foods, fruits and vegetables.

Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski told reporters about the decision, noting that Minister of Economy and Labor Besar Durmishi will provide more details at a press conference later in the day.

"We will have such campaigns lasting for a month or two, during which the profit margin will be limited to ten percent, in order to prevent blows on the citizens' standard," said PM Mickoski.

The proposal was drafted in consultation with traders and producers as a short-term measure that is set to last for a month, around holiday periods, when product prices go up.
