Goran Milevski announces to step down as minister of local self-government
Skopje, 17 September 2022 (MIA) – Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) leader Goran Milevski announced to step down from his position as the Minister of Local Self-Government next week.
He confirmed the information to TV21 and Lokalno early on Saturday.
“After three years performing the duties as Minister of Local Self-Government, I think it is time for changes and for another LDP staff to come to this position,” said Milevski in regard to the information in the media that he is stepping down from his position in the Government.
LDP is holding talks to choose Milevski’s successor in the ministerial department.
Andrej Zhernovski, who was the LDP leader until 2015, was succeeded by Goran Milevski.
Goran Milevski has been the Minister of Local Self-Government since 2019. On January 3, 2020, he was appointed Minister of Local Self-Government in the transitional Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, a position he held until August 30, 2020. As of August 30, 2020, Goran Milevski was re-appointed Minister of Local Self-Government in the second term of the Government led by the Prime Minister Zoran Zaev. He was also appointed Minister of Local Self-Government in the new Government led by PM Dimitar Kovachevski, elected on January 16, 2022.
For the time being, there is no comment from the Government or the LDP about Milevski's announced resignation.
