Gjurchinovski: Army works intensively to improve strategic communications in line with NATO’s concept
Skopje, 8 September 2022 (MIA) - NATO's strategy for deterrence and defence must be accompanied by right communication within and outside the operational zone. Each of us has a role to play in communicating to domestic audiences and allies, Chief of Army’s General Staff, Lieutenant-General Vasko Gjurchinovski said Thursday delivering closing remarks at the 2022 NATO Communicators Conference being held in Skopje.
“The next thing I would like to mention is the huge importance of something that changed the picture of the battlefield, and that picture is blurred and cannot be easily recognized compared to the conventional military operations of the past. These are operations in the field of communications,” Gjurchinovski said.
He said that the Army and Ministry of Defence are intensively working on developing and improving capabilities in the area of strategic communications aimed at increasing efficiency of communications in line with NATO’s communication concept.
“Today, we can elaborate on how the information environment is changing as a result of hybrid operations exclusively through the lessons of the war between Russia and Ukraine. I believe this is the turning point in improving NATO's strategic communications concept in the new decade through the importance of the notion of the Alliance's means and strategic objectives,” Gjurchinovski said.
The 2022 NATO Communicators Conference, which is the Alliance’s largest annual gathering of communicators, has been hosted by North Macedonia on September 5-8.
Around 300 participants discussed strategic communications on several panels at the conference.
