Skopje, 6 November 2025 (MIA) - The new Mayor of Skopje, Orce Gjorgjievski, officially took office Thursday, noting that a large-scale action to clean up the capital will kick off on Thursday evening as per his campaign promise.
“Officially, starting from today, Skopje is writing a new page in its history. Today’s certificate is a symbol of the trust I have been given by the citizens of Skopje. At the same time, it is also a great obligation to work responsibly, firmly, with dedication, with a clear vision, concrete results, and lots of actions. I am grateful for the support and to every citizen of Skopje that recognized the sincerity, commitment, and actions behind my words. I will be a mayor of all, regardless of religious, national, partisan, or any other affiliation. Divisions don’t exist for me – what guides me is securing a better future and dignified life for all, and I will work tirelessly for this. You have my word. We will change Skopje thoroughly. Starting from tonight, at 8:30 PM, we will begin with the first big action to clean up Skopje in 72 hours exactly as promised. And from tomorrow, we begin a thorough reorganization and normalization of public enterprises, so that the city can finally function the way its citizens deserve it to function,” Gjorgjievski wrote in a post on his official Facebook page.
Gjorgjievski also said Skopje would receive new projects, with some of them beginning in the coming days. “Investments in infrastructure, education, sport, environment, but we are also bringing back transparency. Skopje will finally be an open city,” he wrote.
