Skopje, 17 October 2025 (MIA) - I extend my hand to all citizens, activists and opponents. Politics must stop after the elections, it's time for work. I urge all of you to unite around Skopje, because this city is our only home, said VMRO-DPMNE Skopje mayor candidate Orce Gjorgjievski in his message on the final day of the campaign for the local elections.
Gjorgjievski said his vision for Skopje is one of a city without divisions, noting they toured every neighborhood and talked to thousands of citizens over the past three weeks.
"Today I stand here not to deliver political speeches but to thank you from the bottom of my heart. To thank you for every advice, criticism and hope I saw in your eyes, hope that Skopje can and must finally do better," said Gjorgjievski.
According to him, the campaign involved a big team comprised of experts in many fields and of diverse communities.
"I am not supported only by my political party, but a team of professors, architects, artists, as well as common, honest people who live and breathe our city. A team consisted of Macedonians, Albanians, Turks, Roma, Bosniaks, Serbs etc, a team of people with different political and ideological background, but sharing the same love for Skopje," said Gjorgjievski.
He referred to projects that would solve the traffic collapse, completion and construction of new boulevards and junctions, new eco-buses and a city train, four new mega-parks and 50 local parks, as well as thorough reform of public enterprises and urban planning.
"This is not only a fight for cleaner streets and parks, this is a fight for our future and a better place for our children. Let's create a city which they won't want to leave, a city offering clean air, safe playgrounds, quality education, and most importantly - hope and perspective. A city that will be their pride and a safe home," said Gjorgjievski.
He underlined that Skopje has no time to waste, adding "It's time to stop with the divisions and start to work, because this city deserves the best."
