Geer: European Union gives strong support in construction of Corridor 8
Kriva Palanka, 18 February 2022 (MIA) – The European Union gives strong support to the Republic of North Macedonia in the construction of Corridor 8, Head of the EU Delegation to North Macedonia, Ambassador David Geer, said during a visit to Kriva Palanka on Friday. “As the European Union, we look forward to starting the construction of the first and second part of the railway Corridor 8, the railway to Bulgaria, and I must emphasize that the Kumanovo-Beljakovce-Kriva Palanka section will be constructed with funds from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and a European Union grant, while intensive work is already underway to find ways to build section three, Kriva Palanka – border crossing with the Republic of Bulgaria, Deve Bair,” said EU Ambassador Geer during Friday’s visit on the first anniversary of Europe House in Kriva Palanka. In addition, Geer met with Kriva Palanka mayor Sashko Mitovski, for talks on several aspects in terms of EU funds support to the municipality, which have so far helped implement projects worth about EUR 5 million.
