Skopje, 22 October 2025 (MIA) - Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi met Wednesday with new Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden, Ola Sohlström, who said his term would focus on political ties, continuation of the support for the country's EU integration, cooperation within NATO, and enhancement of economic cooperation.

Ambassador Sohlström also referred to the bilateral parliamentary cooperation, which he assessed as dynamic and fruitful, the Parliament said in a press release.

Speaker Gashi expressed hope that the successful and dynamic cooperation with the Swedish Embassy would resume in the future, thanking the country for its continued support to North Macedonia's democratic and economic development through a number of projects, as well as through its reform programme worth EUR 10 million per year, aimed at supporting the country's EU integration path.

Interlocutors also agreed that the large Macedonian diaspora in Sweden has contributed to a large extent in the enhancement of bilateral ties, reads the press release.
