Berlin, 23 July 2022 (dpa/MIA) — The planned pre-season friendly between Eintracht Frankfurt and Ajax Amsterdam on Saturday was cancelled due to coronavirus cases in the Dutch side's squad.
Ajax announced that the SARS-CoV-2 outbreak had occurred at their training base in Austria and the game in Grödig near Salzburg was off.
Europa League winners Frankfurt were keen to play with their season starting with the German Cup first-round game at Magdeburg a week on Monday.
Instead they will continue their training camp and face Astoria Walldorf in their final pre-season friendly on Wednesday.
Speculation continues to swirl around the future of Frankfurt winger Filip Kostic, with media reports now linking the Serbian with West Ham United.
