FM Osmani to attend final screening meeting between EU and North Macedonia in Brussels on Thursday

Skopje, 6 December 2023 (MIA) – Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani will pay a working visit to Brussels on Thursday, where, alongside Deputy Prime Minister for European affairs, Bojan Marichikj, he will participate in the bilateral screening meeting between the European Commission and North Macedonia on Chapter 31 – Foreign, Security and Defence Policy, which will mark the end of the country’s screening process.

 

According to a press release from the Foreign Ministry, as part of his stay in Brussels, Osmani will also attend the EU-Western Balkans Summit hosted by renowned Brussels-based think-tank Friends of Europe. At the Summit, Osmani will address a panel titled “EU Enlargement: A New Geopolitical Urgency”, alongside the foreign ministers of Albania and Montenegro, Igli Hasani and Maida Gorčević; the EU Special Representative for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue, Miroslav Lajčák; the Director-General of the Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR), Gert Jan Koopman; Secretary General of the Regional Cooperation Council, Majlinda Bregu; U.S. Ambassador to Serbia, Christopher Hill; as well as the former EU commissioner for enlargement, Štefan Füle.

 

Osmani will also hold bilateral meetings and talks with his colleagues from the region, as well as high representatives of the Union.
