Finance Ministry signs annexes to USAID agreement for additional grant
Skopje, 2 October 2021 (MIA) – The United States provides significant support for the government of North Macedonia in conducting activities aimed at economic growth and stability and strengthening democratic practices and institutions. It is being confirmed by the two signed amendments to the Development Partnership Grant Agreement, which provides additionally up to $3.5 million this year. Finance Minister Fatmir Besimi signed the annexes, said the Finance Ministry on Saturday. The Development Partnership Grant Agreement with USAID was signed on May 6 committing up to $8.2 million annually for the government. After the two annexes, the grant is increased by $3.5 million, meaning the grant in total is estimated at $11.8 million, which is intended for strengthening of economic competitiveness and fight against corruption. The Development Partnership Grant Agreement is in line with the 2020-2025 Development and Cooperation Strategy, envisaging a total of $56.6 million. It is committed to the three development goals with which USAID is helping North Macedonia play a leading role in achieving development being NATO’s 30th member and in anticipation of opening accession talks with the EU. Through USAID, the United States in the country has invested over $833 million.
