Skopje, 24 September 2024 (MIA) - Justice Minister Igor Filkov met Tuesday with the new Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Özlem Canel, discussing opportunities for strengthening cooperation, mutual support in key processes, and the Justice Ministry's upcoming activities on judiciary reforms in order to increase public trust and build a stronger legal system.

Minister Filkov thanked Ambassador Canel for Netherlands' commitment to the European reform agenda and assistance in projects concerning the Macedonian justice system, towards strengthening the accountability, efficiency, and transparency of the Judicial Council, support for the Academy for Judges and Prosecutors, and rule of law.

Ambassador Canel wished Filkov success in his ministerial duties and said the Netherlands will continue to implement projects in the field of judiciary by supporting the penitentiary system, as well as greater use of probation in the country, the Ministry of Justice said in a press release. ssh/ik/
