Skopje, 11 October 2025 (MIA) — SDSM leader Venko Filipche met Saturday with members of the Association of Veterans of Macedonia to extend his best wishes on National Uprising Day and pay tribute to the fighters in World War II who had laid the foundations of the Macedonian state.
At the meeting, it was stressed that the Macedonian people were always on the right side of history – on the side of liberty, justice and the defense of everyone's dignity.
"I had an excellent meeting today with representatives of the Association of Veterans, each of them a direct descendant of national heroes, veterans, people who have built their blood into the foundations of this state, who showed through their deeds and fight that they loved Macedonia more than anything," Filipche said.
He added that the fight for a better society was not over and much more work needed to be done to preserve the national heroes' legacy.
"We need to work hard to strengthen our country and to complete our European integration path so Macedonia is a beautiful place to live in, where young people can see themselves in the future. Let's find a way to achieve national consensus and fight against the greatest enemies of today, which are corruption, partisanship and poverty," Filipche said. mr/
