Filipche: SDSM back into shape, post-election crisis is over

Skopje, 25 July 2024 (MIA) – SDSM leader Venko Filipche said Thursday his party has gotten back into shape and the post-election crisis is over. He also said he has been meeting with members of the party, including those who are active and those who are discontent with certain developments.

Filipche said in the coming period he would be focused on meeting with party members and top party officials. He announced that over the summer, working groups will be set up so as to allow SDSM to be functioning and all party bodies to be operational.

Preparations for the election of new delegates for the party congress are about to start, said Filipche adding he expected the process to complete by October.

The congress with the new delegates will elect the party’s central board, which is tasked with electing the new party leadership.

During Filipche’s tenure as party leader, SDSM will draft a document to affirm the social democratic values.

We’re starting to prepare a new strategy, the so called ‘Blueprint for Social Democracy’. This document will serve as an ideological and political strategy to rebrand and modernize SDSM. It will reaffirm the social democratic values, adjusted to the new era having in mind also the new policies we’ll be presenting in an inclusive way,” Filipche told a news briefing.

He announced that SDSM MPs have prepared amendments to the budget revision motion, which will be debated today by MPs at the Financing and Budget Committee.

The SDSM leader also called on the government to send the bill on the loan from Hungary to Parliament soon, noting that the country for the first time in history will receive a bilateral loan rather than sign for a loan with international organizations, which have precise control mechanisms.
