Filipche: Macedonia second to last in Europe in terms of minimum wage

Filipche: Macedonia second to last in Europe in terms of minimum wage

Vinica, 13 October 2025 (MIA) – VMRO-DPMNE’s Government has brutally deceived and lied to the citizens – they are neither proud, nor do they have more money, nor do they live better. In a year and a half, this Government has brought chaos and poverty, said the leader of SDSM, Venko Filipche, at a rally held in Vinica on Monday evening.

“VMRO-DPMNE promised pride and dignity, they brought poverty, chaos, and uncertainty. VMRO-DPMNE boasts about stability, but the people struggle to get through the month. The country is stagnating, there is no economic growth, inflation is eating away at the living standard, while wages aren’t increasing,” Filipche said.

The opposition leader said young people are not seeing their future in the country with the current wages and high inflation.

“There is no dignified life when Macedonia is second to last in Europe in terms of the minimum wage, with a very low purchasing power. Young people are leaving – not because they don’t love Macedonia, but because it isn’t offering them any future. Life is more difficult for everyone with this Government,” Filipche stressed.

Touching upon the situation in Vinica, the SDSM leader accused VMRO-DPMNE of having left the municipality without a single realized project and in debt.

“It would have been good to have something to say about what the VMRO-DPMNE mayor has done over the past four years, at least something that improved and eased your lives, so that Mickoski doesn’t again think I hate him. But today in Vinica nothing has been realized of what was promised,” Filipche said.

Presenting the party’s candidate for Mayor of Vinica, Goce Milevski, Filipche said Vinica would receive a new retirement home, a new boulevard, and public transportation for all. He called on the citizens to support the party’s candidate and its list of candidates for council members, led by Zoran Stoimenov.
