Filipche in Ohrid: Voice against willfulness, arrogance and fake patriotism

Ohrid, 3 October 2025 (MIA) - Arrogance and fake patriotism, divisions, labeling those who raised their voice against the poor policies. Justice and rule of law is not a thing when VMRO-DPMNE is in power. Theatrical statements without passing a single reform law, SDSM leader Venko Filipche told a rally in Ohrid late on Friday.

Filipche said that contrary to the promises made by Mickoski, the country is farther from Europe and democracy by the day, while every statement by the PM is a new lie.

"SDSM is a statehood party and it is obligated before its ancestors to defend this country. In less than a year, they brought insecurity and fear among the citizens regarding the country's destination. SDSM needs to step up and demonstrate unity at these elections. The call is now more important and louder than ever before. We must fight for our home," said Filipche.

He added that the party's task is to bring back the hope that the current authorities cannot do what they please.

"Let's raise our voice, let's not be silent before injustice and arrogance. We cannot let the self-will of a few people to be a national policy. We cannot allow for the state to become a tool for personal interests. The Anti-Fascist Assembly of Macedonia (ASNOM) did not create this state for someone to privatize and destroy it, to shatter the strategic positions we have set down in the interest of all citizens. If we don't come out and fight now, we will all suffer. Therefore, we must raise our voice against VMRO-DPMNE's wllfulness," said Filipche.

The SDSM leader said Ohrid is the country's pearl but "things are moving in the wrong direction".

"The life of Ohrid citizens is getting worse, the town is spreading uncontrollably, capital projects they inherited from us remain unfinished, there are no new projects," said FIlipche.

Ohrid mayor candidate Asen Shajn said that instead of criticizing, he would speak about the future, new ideas and concept, a concrete plan for real changes.

"We have the capacity and we will work hard, with honesty and transparency. Infrastructure is our priority. Every street, every neighborhood will get the attention they deserve. We will hear the voice of the local communities, who will be our allies. Decisions will be made with the people, not without them," said Shajn.

He added that SDSM is a party that invested in capitla projects and permanent values.

"We will continue on this path of perseverance, commitment and hard work. We will show that Ohrid can move forward with a strong vision and tangible projects," noted Shajn.
