Events mark Petre M. Andreevski's 90th birth anniversary

Skopje, 25 June 2024 (MIA) - A series of events on Tuesday will mark the 90th anniversary of the birth of Macedonian poet, novelist, storyteller and playwright Petre M. Andreevski in the Demir Hisar village of Sloeshtica.

The events in Sloeshtica, his birth village and resting place, are organized by the Macedonian Scientific Association - Bitola in cooperation with the Bitola Faculty of Pedagogy, the St. Clement of Ohrid University in Bitola, the Students' Assembly at the Bitola University, Art Point - Gumno and Europe House - Bitola.

In addition to visits to Petre M. Andreevski's grave in the village of Sloeshtica to lay wreaths, an event featuring a literary reading of his poetry and a quiz with questions about his life and body of work will also take place.

A sculpture, made by Macedonian artist Nikola Pijanmanov, will be unveiled, which is inspired by his seminal collection of poems "Denicija".

EU Ambassador David Geer is expected to address the event.

Petre M. Andreevski was born June 25, 1934 in Sloeshtica and died on September 25, 2006.
