Skopje, 15 August 2024 (MIA) – Minister of European Affairs Orhan Murtezani held Thursday a meeting with the UK Ambassador to North Macedonia, Matthew Lawson, to reaffirm the strong partnership between the two countries with a focus on the current and future cooperation in key areas, the Minister’s office said.
Murtezani thanked for the consistent political, economic and developmental support by the United Kingdom over the years, said the press release. Cooperation with the United Kingdom, he said, is key to enhance the country’s capacities in key areas while working with international and local partners to make sure the projects are aligned with the strategic priorities of the two countries.
Murtezani and Lawson discussed the years-long successful partnership, including the support for North Macedonia’s National Development Strategy, and the efforts to improve public management processes. They reviewed the successful implementation of UK-supported projects, mainly police reforms, judiciary, transparency and accountability of the institutions, as well as the promotion of the principles of equality in the society.
“Murtezani and Lawson emphasized the importance to coordinate donors, noting the years-long British experience in the development cooperation as a key component to align strategic goals in the country’s efforts to maintain stability and security, good governance and promotion of diversity and multiculturalism,” said the press release.
