Brussels, 20 January 2025 (dpa/MIA) - EU leaders have wished Donald Trump well in his second term as President of the United States.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President António Costa posted their best wishes on X on Monday afternoon.

"The EU looks forward to working closely with you to tackle global challenges," they wrote.

The post continued with a call for the new administration to work closely with the EU.

"Together, our societies can achieve greater prosperity and strengthen their common security. This is the enduring strength of the trans-Atlantic partnership."
