EU Delegation funds new TV show, Gazi Baba picnic, concert, exhibits to mark Europe Day

Skopje, 9 May 2023 (MIA) — To celebrate 2023 Europe Day, the EU Delegation is sponsoring a series of May events held under the slogan 'Future Connects Us.' These will be presented by EU Ambassador David Geer in a MRTV appearance on May 9. Later in the day, at 6:15 pm, the national broadcaster will air the first episode of the EU-funded TV show "TV Taxi 28," which is dedicated to Europe Day.

 

According to a press release from the EU Delegation, the 30-episode show will air on MRTV every Saturday, beginning May 13.

 

"The Europe Day ‘gift’ for Skopje and the wider city region will be a picnic on May 13 at Gazi Baba park which will start at noon and will stretch until the late afternoon. A wide range of activities will be available for citizens of all ages, including sport, music, entertainment and most of all – fun," the press release says.

 

On May 14, the European Orchestral Performing Institute FAME’s, funded by the Creative Europe Program, will hold an evening concert at the Army Hall in Bitola, where the Europe Day celebrations started. On May 6, a Europe House opened in Bitola's Army Hall, preserved with financial support of the European Union.

 

The Europe Day celebrations in other parts of the country include Europe House Strumica and Europe House Kriva Palanka activities built around young people and skills in a nod to 2023 being declared European Year of Skills.

 

On May 11, Europe House Strumica will host an event at the city square featuring a storytelling presentation of crafts and skills ('Time to Learn'), followed by a visit to artisan shop ('Time to Practice') and ending with an exhibition of photographs ('Time to Act').

 

On May 12, Europe House Kriva Palanka will open an outdoor exhibition “The New Faces of Skills: YOUth Perspectives” presenting inspiring testimonies that highlight the importance of promoting the right skills for the labour market to tackle youth unemployment.

 

"The second half of May 2023 is dedicated to activities for youth engagement by mobilising the potential municipal Youth Councils as platforms for youth activism and participation in the decision-making. In the spirit of #TeamEurope approach, the activities will be organised by twinning/partnering Youth Councils with EU Member State," the release says. mr/
