EU delegation condemns Ohrid incident
- The Delegation of the European Union in the Republic of North Macedonia condemns all acts of violence, as the one that took place in Ohrid and expects the authorities to investigate the case.
Skopje, 20 January 2023 (MIA) – The Delegation of the European Union in the Republic of North Macedonia condemns all acts of violence, as the one that took place in Ohrid and expects the authorities to investigate the case.
“We condemn all acts of violence such as this. We expect the authorities to promptly investigate the case and bring the perpetrators to justice,” EU Delegation told MIA when asked to comment last night’s incident in Ohrid.
The police detained Friday three Ohrid citizens, who are suspected of physically assaulting a 21-year-old fellow citizen in a town restaurant late yesterday.
Ohrid police spokesperson Stefan Dimoski told MIA the three individuals physically assaulted the person inside and then outside the restaurant, resulting in severe injuries and treatment in the Ohrid general hospital.
Earlier on Friday, the incident was also condemned by the President Stevo Pendarovski, Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski and Foreign Minister Osmani, as well as Bulgarian Prime Minister Galab Donev, Bulgarian President Rumen Radev and the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
