Ekotip donates 255 air filtration systems, Germany's Mann+Hummel explores opportunities for sustainable solutions

Skopje, 19 February 2025 (MIA) - Company Ekotip has donated 255 air filtration systems manufactured by renowned German company Mann+Hummel, set to be used in kindergartens, schools, hospitals and other public institutions across the country.

The Ekotip management and Government Secretary General Igor Janushev signed the EUR 1 million grant agreement on Wednesday.

Government Spokeswoman Marija Miteva and Ekotip representative Lambro Patche told a joint press conference that Mann+Hummel representatives are visiting the country to explore opportunities for further cooperation and finding long-term sustainable solution for the air pollution issue.

"Air pollution remains one of the most serious environmental and health challenge in Macedonia. In the context of the efforts to reduce air pollution through capital projects, the Government is actively working on long-term strategies through investments in sustainable energy solutions, increased control of emissions and support to green technologies. Considering that implementation of these measures requires time, these swift and efficient donations from the private sector are of enormous significance for the protection of the people's health," said Miteva.

According to her, investments in the citizens' health remains a priority for the Government.

"Nevertheless, success in the field depends on the efforts invested by all sectors. Therefore, this donation of 255 air filtration systems worth EUR 1 million is significant and the Government hopes it will serve as inspiration for other companies to get involved and contribute to the joint effort for cleaner air and a healthier society. The Government remains committed to undertaking activities against air pollution," noted Miteva.

Ekotip's Patche also urged the business community to get involved in the support of the measures against air pollution.

"Clean air is considered a fundamental human right and is part of all international acts and conventions. It is one of the most sensitive issues in our country and we all have to contribute. I urge the business sector to follow our example. The Government is working on strategies but everything requires time. Let's all pitch in, the business community plays a key role in this," noted Patche.
